How Colour Finds Its Place

The First Colour Is Usually a Place

A palette rarely begins with a colour chart. It begins with a remembered wall, the blue-grey edge of morning or an unexpected green beside old timber. We collect those small relationships before translating them into yarn.

The aim is not to copy a landscape, but to hold onto its atmosphere.

Building Balance

A strong textile needs quiet notes as well as bright ones. Oat, stone and softened charcoal create room for wine, ochre or mineral blue to feel precise rather than overwhelming.

We test colours in small woven studies because thread changes when it crosses another thread. The final relationship can only be understood in cloth.

A Palette Made to Live With

The best colours keep revealing themselves. They change in daylight, sit comfortably beside familiar clothes and become more personal through use. That is the kind of colour XAVERLINA looks for: expressive at first glance, enduring after many seasons.
